Top Ten Reasons Why I Can't Wait to Meet Baby Fleming
Reason #9: Just how big is this baby?

One of the things that I’ve become slightly obsessed with lately is determining the size of the baby. While it’s not important in the least, I’m just really curious. I have a few “newborn” sized things, and I guess my worry is that the baby won’t have anything to wear if he or she is on the small side. On the flip side of that, I have a friend who just delivered a 10 lb, 5 oz baby boy [gulp]. I’m shooting for average, which I recently learned is 7 lbs, 8 oz (thanks, Jenny Boyd).

Care to make a guess? You know I can’t resist a poll, so go ahead and post your guess in the comments section. Or take the easy way out with an over/under on 7 lbs, 8 oz. And to give you a little help, here's a photo of me taken this morning (38 weeks, 2 days).

  1. Ooh-ooh! A poll! Would it be giving us too much help to know how much you weighed at birth? And how does Jenny Boyd know such obscure facts (rhetorical question)? Although I don't think you're overly large, I'm going with above average because that belly is ALL baby--let's say a straight 8 lbs.

  2. I'm going to say with 7lb, 2oz. I think it will be an average to little guy. Yes - I said guy :)

    Come on baby - the world is waiting for you!

  3. Well, you remind me a lot of how I carried both of my girls...and since our husbands come from the same gene pool...I am going to guess 7lb 9oz.

    Brooke = 7lb 7oz
    Caroline = 7lb 4oz

    I am giving you a couple extra ounces since I think it is a boy and they sometimes weigh in a bit more :)

    Any more 'signs' of baby Flemings arrival??? The suspense is killing me...

  4. I'm going with under 8. You're a pretty little lady and Maria is right, it's allll belly....or rather, all baby!

  5. I think Baby Fleming (can't wait for a real name!!!) will be near 7lb 7oz!! That is real close to your birthweight and I predict a similar size for your baby

  6. One dollar, Bob.

    6 lbs 11 oz. You're just too tiny for Baby F to be average sized. DISCLAIMER: I know nothing about baby sizes. I thought I was born weighing 12 lbs. Come to find out, that's really big and I was not 12 lbs. Thank goodness.

  7. I apparently know of too many 8-pounders, thus my odd sense of judgement. But hey, if I were betting actual money I could get a good pay-out if I'm right!

  8. My guess is 8lbs 2oz, and I'll throw in 19" long. :) Seriously just pulling numbers out of the air! Cna't wait to find out the real numbers!

  9. I'm going 8lbs 1oz. only because everyone else seemed to be staying in the 7's and I think you'll make it to your due date...and I rarely hear of a baby being exactly on the pound.
