And tiny hats. And tiny outfits that lean one way or the other gender-wise. Have you ever noticed that they really don’t make shoes that are gender neutral? And aren’t baby shoes just about the cutest things in the world? Hats are kind of the same way, but we did manage to find a few that will work for either a boy or a girl and are just adorable. The elf hat from Kelly is already packed in the hospital bag. We’re all ready for pictures, Kelly!
Again, I don’t regret our decision of not finding out the sex, and truthfully, this decision has saved us a LOT of money. I haven’t bought anything clothes-wise for the baby in a few months (not that I haven’t been tempted) because we got so many beautiful things from family and friends and because I know that I shouldn’t buy more of the same. Once our little baby is here, though, it’s GAME ON!

Top Ten Reasons Why I Can’t Wait to Meet Baby Fleming
Reason #6: We want to share the name with all of you!
Lately, I’ve had more and more people come out and ask about the baby’s name. Brian and I had decided a long time ago that we’d keep the name(s) a secret until the baby comes, and we have indeed been able to keep them to ourselves. That system worked well while we were still thinking and debating about the names, but now that we're settled on one boy name and one girl name, it's becoming a little more difficult. I really love both of the names! I want to tell you what they are! But I’m not going to. Sorry.
In an effort to relieve the pressure, we’ve started telling random people that we’ll never see again. So if you’re curious, one of the waitresses at the local Buffalo Wild Wings and one of the nurses at Winnie Palmer know the names. If you can find ‘em, they’re welcome to tell. Otherwise, it won’t be long now!

Top Ten Reasons Why I Can't Wait to Meet Baby Fleming
Reason #7: People will stop staring at me and start looking at the adorable baby.
I can’t believe how much I have loved being pregnant. I don’t know whether it’s because I’ve wanted this for so long or because I’ve had a relatively smooth pregnancy or because I just think it is an absolutely awesome experience, and I am starting to mourn the end of this experience a little. Just a little.
That being said – I can’t wait for people to stop looking at/sizing up/backing away from/making a comment about me. I’m ready to just blend in a little bit. In the beginning, I started keeping a list of the random comments that people made to me about the pregnancy/baby. Here are a few of my favorites:
“Wow! You’ve really popped out.” --unnamed colleague at HMH
“Well your definitely prego now.” --a different unnamed colleague at HMH
“I don’t mean to be offensive, but are you pregnant?” --Steak-n-Shake waitress in Maplewood, MO
“Oh, you’re due in July. You’ll have a Cancer. Don’t be surprised if your baby is too attached to you. I mean, you’ll probably get sick of how attached the kid will be. Cancer’s are like that.” --furniture salesperson at American Signature in Altamonte Springs
"Congratulations! When are you due? Oh, that's nice. Is the baby healthy?" --waitress at Bahama Breeze in Altamonte Springs (how do you answer that?)
"You walk like me now!" --colleague at HMH, who I have to mention is a 60-year old man with chronic foot problems
"So I guess that kid doesn't want to come out yet, eh? Heh heh." --yet another unnamed colleague at HMH
"Wow. Your feet are really swollen." --dozens and dozens of strangers over the past few months

Top Ten Reasons Why I Can't Wait to Meet the Baby
Reason #8: What will the baby's birthdate be?
So we’ll definitely have a July baby, but when in July will the bambino arrive? Will the baby make a grand entrance on my Mom and Dad’s anniversary? If that was the plan, the baby had better get out here quick (i.e., today. Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad)! Will it be on Mike and Nicki’s one-year anniversary? Perhaps, since that’s only one day before our due date. That’d be pretty cool, but it’s kind of far away…
And because the due date is in the middle of the month, the baby has a “choice” of astrological signs. If the birthday is before July 23, he or she will be a Cancer (The Crab) and ruled by the Moon. If the baby is born after July 23, we’ll have a little Leo (The Lion) who will be ruled by the Sun. I don’t put a whole lot of stock into astrology or anything, but in 20 years, someone’s going to use a cheesy pick-up line on my kid, and I’d like to know what the answer will be.
Anyone care to take a guess on the date? I’d love to hear what you think!

For those inquiring minds...
I just had a doctor's appointment this morning, and things are going well. I'm about 1.5 centimeters dilated (no change from Monday) and 80% effaced (from 50% on Monday). Everything else looks good, and the doctor didn't seem to think that I was in danger of delivering in his office today. Sorry to disappoint! :)

Reason #9: Just how big is this baby?
One of the things that I’ve become slightly obsessed with lately is determining the size of the baby. While it’s not important in the least, I’m just really curious. I have a few “newborn” sized things, and I guess my worry is that the baby won’t have anything to wear if he or she is on the small side. On the flip side of that, I have a friend who just delivered a 10 lb, 5 oz baby boy [gulp]. I’m shooting for average, which I recently learned is 7 lbs, 8 oz (thanks, Jenny Boyd).
Care to make a guess? You know I can’t resist a poll, so go ahead and post your guess in the comments section. Or take the easy way out with an over/under on 7 lbs, 8 oz. And to give you a little help, here's a photo of me taken this morning (38 weeks, 2 days).

Top Ten Reasons Why I Can't Wait to Meet Baby Fleming
Reason #10: Is this baby a boy or a girl?
So Brian and I had a practice run to the hospital on Monday. Everything turned out to be fine, but the nurse alluded to the fact that she wouldn't be surprised if the real thing started happening soon. The baby's heart rate was just fine throughout 30 or so minutes of monitoring, and to my surprise, the nurse saw a few contractions during this time, too. I guess that's what spurred my "any day now" attitude. Not a bad thing, right, since we're sitting here with less than 2 weeks until the due date? So I thought I'd start counting down the days with a "Top Ten" list of sorts:

While I don't regret for a second our choice to wait until the baby is here to find out the sex, I CAN'T WAIT TO FIND OUT! I've gotten to know this little person over the past months, but I don't really him or her at all! I can't even use one pronoun to tell about what's going on with the baby ("it" is not in our vocabulary). I am so looking forward to hearing those three little words, and it doesn't matter a lick to me what the last word in the sentence is. I just want to know more than, "It's a baby!"
